I Believe that Every Person is Born with Talent
I was recently asked to pick a quote that I like and interpret it into my own words for a newspaper article. It prompted me to really think about it meant to me and why I liked that quote so much.
“I believe that every person is born with talent” – Maya Angelou
I’ve always held the notion that every one of us is an individual with their own set of unique interests, skills and ambitions and if we follow our heart and intuition – our gut – in everything that we do, it will lead us to do something different, and we will do it better than everyone else. It will add value and make a difference in the world.
The problem we see so common today is that out of every 100 people, 99 have the same exact goals and aspirations, and many focus on the material, which is unimaginative and never unlocks our full potential. What does that mean? To me that means 99 people are wrong and only 1 person is on the right track. It may sound extreme but it’s true.
Regardless of whether we succeed or fail trying; the most important thing is to keep getting up again and always dare to dream big. I guess what I’m saying is that I could have been a good banker but I could never have been a happy one. And once I aligned my passion and work, magical things have happened.
So my advice to you is to never settle, to find that one thing that makes you tick and then go after it with everything that you got. Understand that the road will always be long and hard; take pleasure in the journey. Follow your heart and intuition in everything that you do because somehow they already know who you want to become and most of all, never let anyone tell you what you can and cannot do, we are the only judge of our true potential and in many cases we don’t give ourselves enough credit and live our lives far from the levels of what we can truly achieve. We are all gifted beyond our wildest expectations.
